This is my first kick at a podcast concept I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. It’s just me and a microphone saying things I think a lot of Canadians are thinking.

It’s called the New Right because it speaks to a growing number of people who feel left out in the cold by the selection of political parties in Canada. Many Canadians no longer identify with the terms “liberal” or “conservative” and many feel that no one party represents their beliefs, values, opinions…

I feel that way.

This is the first podcast of just me speaking about Canada today and the issues we currently face.

This week, I invite Andrew Phung to the show. Andrew has a few arrows in his quiver. He is the director of Youth Central, a non-profit agency in Calgary that involves youth in positive social change. He is also a mainstay at Calgary’s Loose Moose Theatre and has just finished a film called “Sketch” which will play at the Edmonton Film Festival. He is also Vietnamese. This wealth of experience leads us naturally to discuss the following: Racism in comedy, Political party donations v. charity donations, The Rock and Samuel L. Jackson, Construction zones, Abortion, and Television auditions.

I appear to be a little confused about the title of my show. It is “The Roger Show” and I hope to have that worked out by the next “Roger Show.”

In the first episode, Dave Ware suggested that my father, Bart Dailley, be the next guest on my show. Not a bad idea. My dad has lived a pretty interesting life and has lots of funny stories to tell and an interesting outlook on things. In his 67 years he’s worked a cornucopia of jobs, been in his share of trouble, met the biggest names in sport, and become a Christian pastor.

In this episode, we sit down and talk about his upbringing in Toronto and what he thinks of Canada today. Remarkably, we don’t talk about baseball very much. Trust me… that’s amazing. Baseball is usually all we talk about.
